Gandikota, in the Kadapa region of Andhra Pradesh, is a modest and quaint village that has earned the endearing nickname "Grand Canyon of India." Temperatures here are most agreeable between the months of November and February. Summertime can be much hotter than the rest of the year, ranging up to the thirty-somethings, making travel rather difficult.
Gandikota and the surrounding areas have extremely humid and hot summers. Due to the little amount of precipitation experienced in the region, the monsoon season does not significantly alter the weather. This place is best experienced during the winter, when temperatures are mild.
The monsoon season completely shifts northward by September end, making way for the greatest period of the year. It gets going in October and stays busy until late February or early March. The weather is perfect, the crowds are thin, and you can get the most out of your time in Gandikota. The minimum temperatures in the winter are tolerable, and the maximum temperatures are generally agreeable. All the major sights in the town are within easy walking distance. To be warm and cozy throughout your time in Gandikota, bring along some warm outerwear for the evenings.
Gandikota's summer season begins in March and lasts through June. The weather is still pleasant enough for sightseeing in March. But when April rolls around, the weather begins to heat up, reaching its apex in May & June. The summertime heat might easily reach 40 degrees Celsius. Sightseeing can be a challenge in the sweltering heat and sticky air. Since this is the case, summer is not a good time to visit the area.
Monsoon season typically begins around the conclusion of summer, sometime in late June here. It begins in July and ends at the end of September. But the region did not receive a lot of rain throughout the monsoon, and the peak temperatures remained high.
Although the temperature does drop as a result of the rains, the humidity does not go down. It usually rains the most in August, but other than that, the season is rather average.
