The Uttar Pradesh district of Lakhimpur Kheri is home to one of the nation's most thriving national parks: Dudhwa National Park.
The elevation of Dudhwa National Park ranges from a low of 150 meters to a high of 183 meters. The park is at its best between the months of mid-November and mid-June. But February through April is the peak tourist season.
Jeep safaris in this National Park are most enjoyable between the months of November and June. Even though May and June are too hot to enjoy the park, it is open to the general public from November 15th to June 15th. If you plan on visiting the Park in the winter, especially between the months of December and February, make sure to pack warm woolens.
The climate of Dudhwa is quite variable, indicative of the north Indian weather pattern. From March through June, temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius, making the summers very uncomfortable. Temperatures range from about 20 to 30 degrees Celsius during the winter (middle of October to middle of March). Don't forget to bring your woolies this winter. While the park is open year-round, it is closed during the monsoon season.
The best time to go to Dudhwa National Park is during the winter months of November through February. Remember that these are peak tourist months, so the park will likely be busy with visitors. Likewise, temperatures throughout these months range from 20 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius, keeping things cool and pleasant as per the forest's native creatures and the tourists who come to see them in the national park.
After dry and hot summers, the woodlands come back to life with the arrival of the monsoon rains. However, the monsoon is the most difficult time to visit Dudhwa National Park because it is the mating season for most of the species that live there. Thus, the woods are off-limits between the months of July and October.
From March till June, Dudhwa National Park enjoys its summer season. Dudhwa's summers can reach temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius, and the humidity is just as intense. Nonetheless, the temperature typically stays in the upper range, making the weather sweltering and frequently unbearable.
It's not the best time to go, since people will be preoccupied with the heat and won't be able to really appreciate the park for what it is.
